Patna 10th October 2025(PTI) : Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party on Wednesday announced its first list of 51 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, marking the party’s formal entry into electoral politics.
The list, unveiled at a press conference in Patna, features a diverse mix of candidates from various social, professional, and regional backgrounds. According to the party, 17 of the candidates belong to the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs), 11 to the Other Backward Classes (OBCs), nine to minority communities, seven to Scheduled Castes (SCs), and the rest to the general category.

Notably, Prashant Kishor’s name is not included in the first list, despite earlier speculation that he might contest the polls himself. Party president Uday Singh said Kishor remains the guiding force of Jan Suraaj, which will contest all 243 seats in the state.
Among the prominent names are Jagriti Thakur, granddaughter of former Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, fielded from Morwa (Samastipur); Lata Singh, daughter of former Union Minister R.C.P. Singh, from Asthawan (Nalanda); noted mathematician K.C. Sinha from Kumhrar (Patna); Bhojpuri actor Ritesh Ranjan Pandey from Kargahar (Rohtas); and Pritti Kinnar, representing the transgender community, from Bhorey (Gopalganj).
Announcing the list, Singh said the selection process was based on “people’s credibility, public service record, and commitment to clean politics.” He added that the party’s campaign will begin on October 11 from Raghopur, the constituency represented by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.
“The people of Bihar are tired of politics of promises and polarization. Jan Suraaj stands for honest governance, education, employment, and dignity for every citizen,” Singh said.
The release of the first candidate list is seen as a major step in Jan Suraaj’s bid to establish itself as an alternative to both the NDA and the INDIA bloc in Bihar’s high-stakes electoral battle.
