The 2025 theme, “Strengthening Community Resilience Through Early Warning Systems,” highlights the critical role of early alerts and community engagement in minimizing the impact of disasters.
Governments, NGOs, and international organizations are marking the day with awareness campaigns, workshops, and drills to educate communities about disaster risks and response strategies. The observance underscores the urgent need for risk-informed development, climate-resilient infrastructure, and proactive planning as climate change and urbanization increase vulnerability worldwide.
