Bhubaneswar, Odisha,13th October 2025 :Today, the world observes the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR), a United Nations-led initiative aimed at promoting a global culture of disaster prevention, preparedness, and resilience. The 2025 theme, “Strengthening Community Resilience Through Early Warning Systems,” highlights the critical role of early alerts and community engagement in minimizing the impact of disasters.

Governments, NGOs, and international organizations are marking the day with awareness campaigns, workshops, and drills to educate communities about disaster risks and response strategies. The observance underscores the urgent need for risk-informed development, climate-resilient infrastructure, and proactive planning as climate change and urbanization increase vulnerability worldwide.

Officials stress that enhancing local preparedness and early warning systems can save lives and protect livelihoods, making disaster risk reduction a shared responsibility for all.
