Model code of conduct has come into effect at Nuapada assembly constituency from today with the announcement of a bye-election on 11th of next month.

07th October 2025, Bhubaneswar : The bypoll  election in the Nuapada Assembly seat of the Kalahandi Lok Sabha became necessary following the death of BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia last month.The Nuapada Assembly constituency, which borders Chhattisgarh, was won by the BJD in the 2024 election. Since 2000, the seat had been represented thrice by the late Dholakia.
The model code of conduct has come into effect in the Nuapada assembly from today with the announcement of a bye-election on 11th of next month.


Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha RS Gopalan told media persons at Bhubaneswar that all the 358  polling booths will have real-time webcasting facilities to ensure transparency. Notification for the bye-election will be issued on 13th, while the deadline for filing nominations is 20th of this month. Scrutiny of papers will be conducted on 22nd and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is 24th of this month. The voting will happen on 11th November & the counting of votes for the bye-election will be held on 14th November.
